Marina de Tavira

Marina de Tavira is a mexican theatre, film and television actress. Her career has mainly developed on the mexican stage working with the most prestigious stage directors. She has played the leading parts in plays from Bertold Brecht, Harold Pinter, David Mamet, Ximena Escalante, among others.

In cinema,  she has worked with various directors such as: Rodrigo Pla in the winning film of the ‘Leone Del Futuro Award’ for the ‘best debut’ at the 2007 Venice Film Festival. She has also worked with Carlos Carrera, Issa Lopez, Marina Chenillo, Hari Sama, and with Alfonso Cuarón in his film “ROMA”. 

In her most recent works on television are “Ingobernable” for Netflix and “Falco” for Amazon, directed by Ernesto Contreras.  Marina’s work has been nominated and awarded several times by various associations of theater critics and journalists in Mexico.

Her most recent performance was in the multi-award-winning film “ROMA” under the direction of Alfonso Cuarón. 

Here, Marina played ‘Ms. Sofia’, a character that gave her an Academy Award and a Platinum Award nominations in the Best Supporting Actress category. She won the Mexican Ariel Award in the same category.
