Marina de Tavira

Marina de Tavira is a mexican theatre, film and television actor. Her career has mainly developed on the mexican stage working with the most prestigious stage directors. She has played the leading parts in plays from Bertold Brecht, Harold Pinter, David Mamet, Ximena Escalante, David Hevia, Nina Raine, among others.

In cinema, she has worked with various directors such as: Rodrigo Pla in the film “La Zona” which one the ‘Leone d´Oro Award’ for the ‘BEST DEBUT’ at the 2007 Venice Film Festival. She has also worked with Carlos Carrera, Issa Lopez, Marina Chenillo, Hari Sama, Alfonso Cuarón (in his film “ROMA”), Katina Medina Mora, Lisa Joy and Celina Murga.

Her most recent works on television are “Now and Then” for Apple TV+, directed by Gideon Raff, “Ingobernable” for Netflix and “Falco” for Amazon, directed by Ernesto Contreras.  In 2017 she performed under the direction of Alfonso Cuarón in the multi-award-winning film “Roma”, where she played ‘Ms. Sofia’, a character that earned her an Academy Award nomination, as a well a Platinum Award nomination, both for Best Supporting Actress category. She won the Ariel Award in the same category.
