Marina de Tavira
<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Marina de Tavira is a mexican theatre, film and television actor. Her career has mainly developed on the mexican stage working with the most prestigious stage directors. She has played the leading parts in plays from Bertold Brecht, Harold Pinter, David Mamet, Ximena Escalante, David Hevia, Nina Raine, among others.

In cinema, she has worked with various directors such as: Rodrigo Pla in the film \u201cLa Zona\u201d which one the \u2018Leone d\u00b4Oro Award\u2019 for the \u2018BEST DEBUT\u2019 at the 2007 Venice Film Festival. She has also worked with Carlos Carrera, Issa Lopez, Marina Chenillo, Hari Sama, Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n (in his film \u201cROMA\u201d), Katina Medina Mora, Lisa Joy, Celina Murga and Valentina Maurel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Her most recent works on television are \u201cNow and Then\u201d for Apple TV+, directed by Gideon Raff, \u201cIngobernable\u201d for Netflix and \u201cFalco\u201d for Amazon, directed by Ernesto\u00a0Contreras.\u00a0 In 2017 she performed under the direction of Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n in the multi-award-winning film \u201cRoma\u201d, where she played \u2018Ms. Sofia\u2019, a character that earned her an Academy Award nomination, as a well a Platinum Award nomination, both for Best Supporting Actress category. She won the Ariel Award in the same category.
She has been nominated by several of Mexico\u2019s leading theater critics\u2019 associations, as well as for the Diosas de Plata Awards, in recognition of her work in film.
Most recently, she received the Best Performance Award in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, awarded ex aequo for her performance in Forever Your Maternal Animal, directed by Valentina Maurel.
